چکیده
The central odontogenic fibroma (COF) is a rare benign mesenchymal tumour of jaw bone derived from the ectomesenchyme. It characterized by fibrous mature stroma with variable number strands or islands inactive-looking epithelium. presented case 46 years old male complaining asymptomatic mandibular bony swelling. Radiographically, lesion unilocular radiolucent, root resorption and displacement teeth. Histopathology showed dense connective tissue stroma, loosely arranged spindle stellate-shaped cells, inactive epithelium island osteoid tissue. In this report, we also discuss about types, pathogenesis, recent concepts regarding COF.

In this paper, we present a case of an uncommon and slow-growing tumor known as a central odontogenic fibroma (COF). The patient in question is a 53-year-old African-American man who was referred for periodontal evaluation of asymptomatic space formation between the mandibular central incisors. Clinical and radiological evaluations disclosed tumor-like tissue expanding the alveolar ridge in the...

Handlers and his colleagus described Central Odontogenic Fibroma (COF) in 1991, as an extremely rare benign odontogenic tumor that is derived from dental mesenchymal tissue. Its accounts for about 0.1% of all odontogenic tumors. COF is an asymptomatic, slow growing lesion, usually occuring in adults and has a female predilection. This article presents a case of COF in a 35-year-old male, on the...

Central odontogenic fibroma (COF) is a rare tumor that accounts for 0.1% of all odontogenic tumors. It has been defined as a benign neoplasm, which appears in the jaw. Clinically, the lesion grows slowly and leads to cortical expansion. Radiologically, the most common finding is multilocular radiolucency. In some cases, it may be associated with root resorption or displacement. Histologically, ...

In 1991, Handlers and colleagues described the Central odontogenic fibroma (COF) as a distinct entity which is a rare benign odontogenic tumour and up to the present, only 78 cases of it have been published. COF usually occurs in an adult patient and has a predilection for the anterior region of the jaws. A 2.8:1 female to mail ratio is typically noted. This article presents a case of COF in a ...
